In this guide:

Before you begin:

To implement audience protection, you must have implemented Lunio's Multiplatform tracking script across your website. Learn how in this guide.

πŸ’‘ Keep in mind that exclusions will only take effect after your audience has reached a minimum size of 300 users

Activating Your Pixel

1. Navigate to Bing, then go to Tools β†’ UET tag β†’ Tag ID

Under Tag ID, is where you’ll find your UET Tag

Platform Setup and Applying to a Workspace

For Lunio accounts with workspaces enabled you can set the platform up yourself using the instructions below. For accounts without workspace please contact [email protected] to support with the setup.

  1. Log into your Lunio dashboard as an administrator and access the 'System Overview' administator area using the workspace navigator in top left.

  2. From there click on Platforms β†’ Add New Mplat +

This will bring up the settings as shown in the screenshot below, please fill in accordingly

  • Select Platform = Bing

  • Name = Workspace Name

  • Auto Calculate CPC/Average Cost Per Click

  • Platform Parameter = UET Tag

  • Protection Status = Protect

  • Add Domains to This Platform = Domains linked to your website (including subdomains)

Creating the exclusion audience

1. We now need to create an Audience, do this go to Tools β†’ Audiences β†’ Create.

Make sure to set up the fields with the following configurations:

  • Name: Lunio Invalid Users

  • Type: Re-marketing list (by default)

  • Tag name: UET Tag ID

  • Whom to add to your audience: Custom Events

  • Category equals: Lunio

  • Label equals: Invalid_User

  • Value: 0

  • Membership duration: 390 days

  • Description = Invalid users detected by Lunio

  • Save

Please Note: The script generated by Bing can be ignored, please leave this completely.

2. While the description is optional, if you choose to include it, we suggest using 'Invalid users detected by Lunio.' Ensure that sharing is already set to 'Only used by the referenced tag name,' and then proceed to save.

Applying the audience to your campaigns

The following step is to connect your campaigns with this audience to effectively sift through and channel invalid data into this designated audience.

  1. Navigate to the main overview page and access the campaigns dropdown by clicking on "Campaigns."

  2. Choose the campaigns that you wish to exclude from the negative audience.

  3. Click on "Edit," and then opt for "Associate with Audiences."

  1. Within Campaign exclusions, choose 'Add exclusion.'

  2. Under Audience, select 'Remarketing lists.'

  3. Choose 'Lunio Invalid Users' and click '+.'

  4. Finally, click 'Save.'

UTM tagging steps

Finally, we will need to put our tag in place. To do this, we will need to go back to the top level.

  1. Go to Settings β†’ Account level.

  2. Locate the Final URL suffix in the settings and insert β€œppcp_platform=bing”.

Please Note:
If you have additional tracking tags, incorporate the Lunio tag by adding ppcp_platform=bing. The Final URL suffix should resemble the following example: utm_campaign=abcd&another_platform_parameters&ppcp_platform=bing.
