How to enable Lunio's audience protection on your Yahoo Japan Search account

Before you begin

To implement audience protection, you must have implemented Lunio's Multiplatform tracking script across your website. Learn how in this guide.

πŸ’‘ Keep in mind that exclusions will only take effect after your audience has reached a minimum size of 1,000 users and initial site retargeting tag activation may require a 24-hour wait period.

Identifying Your Site Retargeting ID

  1. In your Yahoo Japan Search account, navigate to Campaign Management Tool, then proceed to Tools > Library > select Target List.

  2. On the Retargeting tag, click on View tag and ID in the Target list view.

  3. Copy the 10-digit string for the Retargeting ID.

Platform Setup and Applying to a Workspace

If you don't have workspaces enabled then please contact [email protected] to configure your platform.

  1. Log into your Lunio dashboard as an administrator and access 'System Overview' using the workspace navigator in the top left.

  2. From there click on Platforms β†’ Multi Platform β†’ Add New Mplat +

  3. This will bring up the settings as shown in the screenshot below, please fill in accordingly.

    • Select Platform = Yahoo Japan

    • Name = Platform Name

    • Auto Calculate CPC/Average Cost Per Click: at least one non-Google platform must have a self-defined CPC so that other platforms can use an auto-calculated CPC.

    • Platform Parameter = Your Retargeting ID copied from Yahoo Japan Search from the previous section.

    • Protection Status = Protect or Monitor

    • Add Domains to This Platform = Domains linked to your website (including subdomains). Easiest method is to copy the URL from the browser and paste it as is to ensure the full domain is provided e.g. https://www.example.com/

    Once all the appropriate fields have been filled in, click on confirm.

  4. Next, you'll need to add the platform to a Workspace. Please follow the instructions here.

Creating your Target List

  1. In your Yahoo Japan Search account, navigate to the Campaign Management Tool and go to Tools > Target Lists.

  2. Click on New Target Lists and select Rule.

  3. Enter the name for the Target List as Lunio_Invalid_User

  4. Set the rule with the following conditions:

    1. Select yahoo_retargeting_label from the dropdown list. Please note it may take 24 hours to populate the label in this list.

    2. Input Lunio_Invalid_User as the value.

    3. The rule should be set to is equal to.

  5. Set the site reach as Open for the target list reach.

  6. Leave the default data duration as 180 days.

  7. You can add the description as Invalid users detected by Lunio.

  8. Click Create.

Applying the Target List to your Ad Groups

You then need to apply this Target List to your Ad group(s) by following the steps below.

  1. In the Campaign Management Tool go to Target Lists and then click on Ad Groups > Edit

  2. Click on the check boxes for the ad groups you want to apply the target list to, then click Continue.

  3. Click on Specify Target Lists and select Exclude for the target list Lunio_Invalid_User created in the previous section.

  4. Click Settings.

URL Tagging

You will need to add this URL parameter β€œppcp_platform=yj” to your tag in order to see clicks on the Lunio dashboard.
