How Lunio Supports View-Based Campaigns

Updated over 2 months ago

Question:

“We run campaigns optimised for views rather than clicks. Since Lunio’s platform is designed around click-based analysis, how does it help in protecting view-focused campaigns? Can Lunio identify or prevent invalid views?”

Lunio Does Not Classify Views Directly

Lunio is built to analyse and classify traffic based on click data. For view-based campaigns - such as video views or impression-based formats - there is no click event to analyse. As a result, Lunio does not directly detect or label views as valid or invalid.

This means we don’t track or assess passive engagement, such as whether a video was watched by a legitimate user or not.

How Lunio Still Helps

Even though view activity itself isn’t classified, Lunio still provides value through proactive protection:

  • IP Blocking and Audience Exclusion
When Lunio identifies users as invalid based on behaviour in campaigns where clicks are tracked, those users are automatically added to exclusion lists. These exclusions apply across the broader advertising environment.

  • Prevention of Future Ad Delivery
As a result of these exclusions, users previously flagged as invalid will no longer be eligible to receive ad impressions - including in view-based campaigns. This helps prevent further ad spend on low-quality traffic sources, even if views themselves aren't analysed.

Summary

While Lunio doesn't evaluate or block invalid views directly, it supports view-based campaigns by preventing previously identified bad actors from being shown your ads again. This helps reduce waste and protect your budget, even in campaigns where clicks aren't the primary performance signal.
