Before You Start
You will need Lunio's multiplatform tracking script installed on your website before DV360 traffic can be monitored, so if you have not done this yet, follow the steps in Installing Lunio's Multiplatform Tracking Script first.
You will also need administrator access to your Lunio dashboard, access to your DV360 account, and access to the Campaign Manager 360 (CM360) account linked to it, as some of the setup happens in CM360 rather than in DV360 itself.
⚠️ If you are setting up a new platform for the first time, it can take up to 24 hours for the tag to activate and for data to start appearing.
Step 1) Add DV360 as a Platform in Lunio
Log into your Lunio dashboard as an administrator and click the Settings (gear) icon in the top right navigation bar to open System Settings.
From there, go to Platforms → Multi Platform → Add New Mplat +.
Fill in the fields as follows:
Select Platform = DV360
Name = a name that matches your workspace, so it is easy to identify later
Average Cost Per Click = enter a CPC manually, or select Auto Calculate to let Lunio work it out for you, though if you choose auto calculate then at least one other platform in your account that is not Google must already have a manually defined CPC
Platform Parameter = your CM360 Advertiser ID, also known as the Floodlight configuration ID, which you can find in your CM360 account details. This links your CM360 Floodlight setup to Lunio so that audience protection can work.
Protection Status = set to Protect if you plan to enable audience protection, or Monitor if you only want to track invalid clicks for now
Add Domains to This Platform = the domains linked to your website, including any subdomains. Copy the full URL from your browser to make sure the domain is complete, for example https://www.example.com
Step 2) Assign the DV360 Platform to a Workspace
Now that the platform has been created, you need to assign it to a workspace so the data appears on your dashboard.
Go to Settings and select Workspaces.
Click the pencil icon next to the workspace where you want to add DV360.
Go to the Multi Platform tab and click Add Configurations.
Find the DV360 platform you just created in the side panel and click the + button to add it to the workspace.
A confirmation notification will appear once the platform has been assigned. If you need more detail on managing workspaces, see How to add a non Google platform to a workspace.
Step 3) Configure URL Tracking in DV360
Lunio needs to identify which clicks come from DV360. If auto tagging is enabled on your DV360 or CM360 setup, which adds a dclid click identifier to your URLs, Lunio will recognise your DV360 traffic automatically and you can skip this step.
If auto tagging is not enabled, add Lunio's custom tracking parameter, ppcp_platform=dv360, to your landing page URLs. You can add this either directly in DV360 or in CM360, depending on where you manage your URLs.
If you already have other parameters on your URL, add the Lunio parameter to the end using an ampersand, for example utm_source=dv360&ppcp_platform=dv360.
⚠️ You also need to add utm_campaign to your landing page URLs, set to your campaign name, so your campaigns show with their names in Lunio.
Step 4) Verify Clicks Are Appearing
Allow up to 24 hours for data to begin flowing, then check your Lunio dashboard to confirm that DV360 clicks are showing. Select the workspace you assigned the platform to and look for DV360 traffic in the overview.
If no data appears after 24 hours, check that the multiplatform tracking script is installed correctly and that the URL parameter or auto tagging is in place.
Enabling Audience Protection (Optional)
The steps above give you full visibility of invalid DV360 traffic on your dashboard. If you also want Lunio to automatically exclude invalid users from seeing your DV360 ads, you can set up audience protection by following the steps below.
This is a separate optional setup, so its steps start again from Step 1, and most of it happens in Campaign Manager 360 (CM360), which is where DV360 audiences are built.
⚠️ Audience protection only runs when your DV360 platform is set to Protect in Lunio. If it is left on Monitor, Lunio will still track and report invalid clicks but will not exclude anyone, so make sure you switch it to Protect once your audience is ready, which is covered in Step 3 below.
Step 1) Create the Floodlight Activity in CM360
In CM360, go to Floodlight → Activities and click New.
Fill in the fields as follows:
Name = Lunio Invalid User
Status = Active
Type = Counter
Activity group = select create new, enter the name Lunio, then click the (create new) Lunio value to confirm it, and when the tag string modal appears enter lunio and click Create
Counting method = Standard
Tag format = Google tag
Category = Page View
Open Advanced properties and set the Activity tag string to lunio
Click Save.
Step 2) Create the Exclusion Audience in CM360
Go to Audience and click New.
Fill in the fields as follows:
Name = Lunio Invalid Users
Membership lifespan = 540 days
Status = Active
Audience type = All visitors who trigger a Floodlight activity
Floodlight activity = Lunio Invalid User (the activity you created in Step 1)
Click Save.
💡 The 540 day membership lifespan is intentional, as it gives Lunio's exclusions the longest possible window to keep invalid users out of your campaigns.
Step 3) Set Your DV360 Platform to Protect in Lunio
Go back to your Lunio dashboard, open System Settings via the gear icon, then go to Platforms → Multi Platform and open the DV360 platform you created earlier.
Change the Protection Status from Monitor to Protect and save, as this is what tells Lunio to start firing the exclusion code for invalid users. Audience protection will not work until this is set.
Step 4) Exclude the Lunio Invalid Users Audience on Your DV360 Line Items
In DV360, go to the Line item you want to protect:
Scroll to Targeting and click Add targeting → Audience lists if you have not added audience targeting to this line item yet.
Then scroll to Exclude, click Add, and choose the Lunio Invalid Users audience. Click Apply and save, and repeat these steps for every line item you want to protect.
Step 5) Verify the Audience Is Active
After a few days of traffic, go to Audience in CM360 and check that the Lunio Invalid Users audience is populating, as the audience size will grow as Lunio detects invalid users and adds them.
If the audience stays empty, confirm that your DV360 platform is set to Protect, that the Floodlight Activity tag strings match the values in Step 1, and that the multiplatform tracking script is installed correctly.
